Does the school run spook you out? Is your journey to school a nightmare?! Fear not! If your journey is between 1-2 miles and you live in Lambeth or Southwark a cargo bike could be just the trick (or treat!). With numerous school streets and a growing number of segregated bike lanes, cycling to school with your kids safely tucked away on your bike, could be the answer.
But buying a cargo bike can be a leap of faith - they are expensive (although not as expensive as a car!), and there are lots of questions:
where can you store them?
can you park them at school?
can you insure them?
If you want to know more, come to our Halloween event on Saturday 3.30-5.30pm, 26th October at the bandstand in Ruskin Park. Meet other parents who already have cargo bikes, ask them questions and they may even let you have a test cycle! AND we have local cargo bike purveyor, BicycleNation turning up, with cargo bikes and great technical advice.
Or are you a parent with a cargo bike, but fed up with the level of school run traffic? If so, come and join our movement! Meet fellow parents who also want to help make the journey to school safer, healthier and greener for everyone.
Come straight there, or join the epic iBike Halloween ride from outside the National Theatre at 3pm, dress to scare and join their fleet of disco bikes on a family friendly ride to Ruskin Park.
*If you can't make the event, head over to Bicyclenation to try before you buy! Explore their wide range of electric cargo bikes, perfect for school runs, family transport, commuting, or carrying cargo. Their knowledgeable and friendly staff will help you choose the best model to suit your needs.
